Fly Fishing Equiptment: What's Best?

When it comes down to it, the only fly fishing equiptment you really need is a rod, a reel, some line, and a fly (and some would argue that the reel's not all that necessary). But that's like saying that all you need to mine for gold is a pick and shovel. It can be done, but you won't have much fun doing it. Getting all your fishing gear in a row

The equipment that best fits you is also the equipment that best fits your fishing conditions. Let's start with fly fishing rods. They need to be strong, sturdy, reliable, and durable. Bamboo is a good choice, as are the many hundreds of composite rods. As for reels, look for something solid and dependable, preferably with workings machined from a single block of aluminum. Line and associated leaders, tippets, and the like should be chosen with your favorite fish and fishing conditions in mind.

Gear up, and take it to the fish

Once you've picked out a rod, reel, and line, most other equipment is just elaboration (but it's fun elaboration).
